That's why I always tell you, Santi, that Chilavert might not have been the best goalkeeper while standing below the crossbar (though he was very good), but he was -without a doubt- all the way up there with Yashin and maybe one or two more when you look at all the other stuff he has done.
I will never forget one time Velez was losing 1-3 in Porto Alegre against Inter for the Libertadores Cup. The stadium was full (about 80,000 people). Chilavert got the ball and carried it outside of the box; then he stopped. The people were jeering, whistling, insulting, etc... He just waited. And waited. Eventually, people stopped doing that. Then he played the ball.
Velez scored twice and the game ended 3-3. Velez even won the cup that year.
